I started selling kids’ clothing out of curiosity over 5 years ago.
I wanted to see if this business would work or if it was feasible after I saw how my friends and extended family loved the clothes I brought back to Nigeria for their children.
Even Though I Had So Many Fears Like;
- I do not live in Nigeria so how can this work?
- How can I start?
- How can I find someone willing to look after the business here and that I can trust?

I still decided to start with my friends and family.
I called my sister in Ekiti and asked if she could help me manage the goods I will send to my parent’s house and also help deliver when people order.
After much Thought On It, She Agreed To Do It.
So that was how I sent the first batch which was 10KG.
I Sold That First 10KG To Friends And Family
And I went on to ship more and more after that.
So people will buy and refer their friends and my sister will ship to them in different states from my Father’s house in Ado Ekiti.
I did that for a while and saw that this can actually work, then I decided that I have to scale so that I can:
- Bring In More Goods
- Find More Customers Outside My Circle Of Friends, Friends Of Friends & Family
- I Needed To Sustain The Revenue
That was when I decided to move the business to Lagos and also since my sister who was assisting me relocated to Lagos, it was a wise thing to do.
And also, try social media (Instagram & Facebook Especially)
After moving to Lagos I tried several trade fairs so that I can get customers in my new location offline some of which I had to come to Nigeria to witness myself.
While I was still trying to build my online presence
I started to face another phase of problems because I didn’t plan well
I will have clothes stocked up for weeks even months and no one was buying
Sometimes, I will struggle back and forth to sort out shipping and Logistics to Nigeria
I lost over $5,000 in the early phase when I started doing this business because I didn’t have anyone telling me or showing me what to do
